Brand Events & Trips: Shot List for Creators, Influencers & Businesses

Don’t pack for your brand event without a shot list!

A shot list keeps brand trips and events organized, intentional, and easy to capture. The right shot list captures all angles and variety of content, so it can be posted hundreds of times long after the event ends. The most important part? It gives you a clear plan for everything you need to film without any scrambling.

When it comes to the marketing side of things, the best-performing brand events have one thing in common. They have a large amount of UGC and BTS content of the event.

Viewers want immersive visuals, real reactions, aesthetic details, behind the scenes, and those small sensory moments that make an experience feel exclusive.

Content like POV shots, b-roll, micro‑moments, and candid interactions consistently get strong engagement. The numbers support it. Research from Freeman shows 64 percent of consumers hold positive impressions of brands for a month or longer after a brand activation or event.

Real World Example: Trippin with Tarte

Tarte’s well-known brand trips have been through their share of backlash. The real pivot happened when creators began sharing behind-the-scenes realities of these trips on TikTok, shifting the narrative from curated luxury to transparent, messy, human storytelling.

Tarte leaned into this shift rather than fighting it. Instead of trying to overly control the message, the brand allowed (and even benefited from) creators posting candid reactions, room tours, and unfiltered commentary from their Turks & Caicos and F1 Miami trips. Elite Daily’s breakdown shows how the viral “Tarte Island” drama spread because creators openly shared their experiences, frustrations, and surprise differences between influencer accommodations.

This transparency driven rebound also synced perfectly with how TikTok culture actually works. Audiences crave relatable, messy, documentary style glimpses into luxury experiences, and the Trippin’ with Tarte hashtag ballooned with candid content.

Sounds easy, but the hardest part is to actually get the footage. While it can be hard to have the time to film during events, shooting more footage than you think you need helps with editing.

Here are a couple of my top tips as an Onsite Event Content Creator who records events on an iPhone:

  • Mix your angles at the start to review the best-looking lighting and shadowing in each space

  • Natural light always wins

  • Candid original audio moments often outperform overly polished visuals

  • Vertical content with grids on

  • If you’re on content duty, record every 10-20 minutes minimum

Now that you’re ready to get your shot list together for your brand trip or launch party, here are 40 Shot ideas to help fill it up!

What to Know Before the Event:

Brand trips and events create environments that people want to watch on social media. They allow viewers to peek into something that’s exclusive. BTS Content from these experiences deepens trust, increases brand visibility, and builds emotional connection. Creators like myself understand how to capture these moments in a way that feels natural, effortless, and polished without looking staged.

Hiring a UGC creator or on-site content creator takes the pressure off internal teams. A trained creator captures everything from the big moments to the small details that matter. Brands walk away with short-form videos, stills, b-roll libraries, and repurposable content that keeps performing long after the event is over. The investment stretches further because the visuals stay relevant for campaigns, ads, and social storytelling.
